| The History Of Carmel Martial Arts |
Okinawan Style-Shorei Goju Ryu. This martial arts program combines self-defense with a philososphy of life which includes goal setting, organization, self-confidence, and physical conditioning. |
Karate is the science of unarmed self-defense and counter attack. Karate, which in original Okinawan calligraphy meant "China Hand", was changed in Japanese calligraphy around 1920 to mean "Empty Hand" (Kara Te)... empty of any weapon or evil intention. |
Our system of Shorei Goju Ryu is so complete that it hs something for everyone. One does not have to be tall, thin, or short and stocky, or a top athlete to study this system. It is adaptable to every size and personality. |
Our system represents the ancient theory of "no limitations" of knowledge or technique. |
At Carmel Martial Arts, we are also committed to helping our students set goals for themselves, and giving them a clear path to achieve them. This approach has served us well, as we have shared in the success of many local, state, national, international and Junior Olympic champions. Our affiliations with the Professional Karate Commission (PKC) and the National Association of Professional Martial Arts keep us updated on current trends in the martial arts discipline, as well as informing us of competitions around the Midwest. |
What we think about we bring about. |
